Career Highlights
Herschel J. R. Weintraub
Established Theoretical Chemistry Department at
Cincinnati Research Center. Provided computational
chemistry support and training to biologists and chemists
and coordinated efforts of satellite groups in Gerenzano
Italy and Strasbourg France.
Guided integration of R&D IT Chemical Structure
Databases (ISIS) with computational chemistry modeling
and library design software.
Executed justification for Cray YMP-2E Supercomputer
for Theoretical Chemistry, X-Ray Structure
Determination (in Strasbourg), and high field NMR
applications. Acquired 3rd Cray Supercomputer in
Pharmaceutical industry (following Lilly and Pfizer) to
enable large scale simulations of protein-ligand systems.
Working closely with Biologists, discovered a compound
that inhibited the uncoating of gp120 coat protein as an
AIDS drug candidate.
Teach Chemistry, Microbiology, Statistics, and other
Health Science-related course material. Experienced in
both traditional classroom instruction and on-line
instruction.
Established website to facilitate student understanding of
homework assignments.
